Since when did Canada...

take such an interest in my Xanga?
Canada
Is anybody else as worried about this as I am?

So I think I've figured out the problem. I can't be the only one who feels lonely and cut off. I know there's a bunch of us who feel that way. And today I figured out why. Or at least part of the why.

Hebrews 3:13
"...but encourage one another daily, while it is still called 'Today' lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."

Hebrews 10:25
"...not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day apporaching."

We're missing that sense of community that they had in the early church. We're only connected by the Internet, which is wonderful, but a pathetic substitute for face-to-face contact. And things are always so busy, so hectic. There's not much in the way of unity anymore, just the occasional IM or comment on MySpace - and that's not nearly enough. That's one of the reasons the Feast (and Louisville and camp to a lesser degree) is so great, because we finally come together to form that family that so many of us are longing for throughout the year.

If only there was a way to make it a year-round thing...any ideas?

I've heard the quote, "Love is friendship set on fire" a couple times. I'm not sure exactly what it's trying to say, except that love will eventually die out and if you get too close to it, it will kill you. And I guess if you have strong feelings for someone you should set them ablaze. I suppose one could argue that fire is a metaphor for passion, intensity, and so on, but to such a person I would have to say, "Shut up." I hate it when people bring things like logic and reason into a perfectly good conversation.

*EDIT*
Kidding. I was just kidding. It was 1:30 in the morning and it seemed funny at the time.

Xanga: Illustrated Edition

So I figure I'll update this thing from time to time while I'm taking my break, provided I can think of anything worthwhile to put on it. That said, here are some random photos from days gone by.

My cat actually buys and sells stocks on E-Trade. She's responsible for one-third of our family's income. We have no idea how to file it on our tax reports.

"Aren't trees usually, you know, vertical? And not in our driveway?"
"Yeah, probably. I'm starting to think this shovel won't do much good."
"Right, well, I'm going to try this hacksaw. Should be finished by summer, at the earliest."

This is Frosty III (aka Neo). He was pretty tall until some blizzard forced him permanently into a move straight out of the Matrix. Now he's just stupid looking.

Gus has yet to realize that he's not a lap-dog anymore.

In case you're wondering, yes, Gus really is not eating Roary.

It's Zoe! She made that "oh please" expression just for the camera. I kid you not.

Time to do what I do best and disappear for a month. The computer's taking up way too much time again and I've been letting things get to me that...really shouldn't be getting to me. Sometimes I get the feeling that most of the people I know aren't interested in taking our friendship past the, "I guess I'll talk to you since you contacted me first" stage. And I wonder, am I not worth being friends with? Is there something wrong with me? I feel alone a lot lately.

Anyway...I'll be around for the rest of the week, but then I'll mostly be staying off until August 22 (I'll be on every now and then to check stuff - if anyone feels like staying in touch, my house is in fact equipped with a phone). Maybe God wants to being me closer to Him. Or maybe He has a lesson to teach me. And if there is something wrong with me, I want to find it and fix it...

VotP: Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
